Ross
River Resort recommends guests observe the following Outback
Travel Tips: |
|
|
- Carry
plenty of water for personal use and extra water
in your car as a precaution.
- Take
notice of signs at all times and take your rubbish with
you if walking or travelling.
- Keep
to walking trails.
- Carry
sun protection - hat, sunglasses, sun lotion, blockout
cream and a reliable insect repellent and carry a map of
the area and or compass.
- Visiting
any Aboriginal site should always be regarded as a privilege.
Obey all signs and leave the area as you found it. Contact
the Central Land Council on (08) 8951 6320 for
more information.
- Always
let someone know what your plans are, including where you
are going, how you are getting there and when you expect
to return.
- Take
extra care when driving in the outback. Kangaroos, birds,
reptiles as well as stock and camels can feed on roadsides
and wander across roads. Wildlife activity increases at
dawn and after dark so it is best to follow these 3 simple
rules:
- Never
drive at night
- Don't
speed
- Be
aware of fatigue.
- If
your car breaks down NEVER leave your vehicle, as your chances
of surviving the outback are slim. The best advice is to
wait near your vehicle until help arrives.
- This
advice also applies to travellers who are part of a group.
NEVER leave the safety of your group. If you find yourself
lost in the bush, find some shade and rest. Help will not
be far away.
